Room by room: preparing a home for sale

Most homes need no major work. The small jobs that win the buyer's first ten seconds.

Entrance

A buyer starts judging at the door. Shoes, the pile behind the door and dim light set the first impression. Clear the entrance, change the bulb, tighten the handle.

Living room

Half the furniture is enough. Clear the window, gather the curtains, use a smaller rug. The buyer must be able to imagine the room with their own things; yours should not stand in the way.

Kitchen and bathroom

Clear worktops, straight cupboard doors, clean silicone. Limescale and mould double the age of a home in a buyer's eyes. A new shower head and tap give the effect of a new bathroom.

Bedrooms

Beds made, wardrobes tidy inside. The buyer will open the wardrobe; decide what they will see.

Garden and terrace

Lawn cut, plants alive, terrace furniture clean. A villa buyer values the garden as much as the living room.

Shoot day

Photos are taken by day, lights off, curtains open. I shoot the home myself; before the shoot we walk the list together.

Meeting

Let us talk first.

Whether you are buying, selling or simply want to know what your home is worth, half an hour is enough. You choose the topic and the day; I confirm the time.
